From the pier at Cayucos, CA, looking back towards Morro Bay, we were lucky enough to spot some grey whales passing through on their migratory route to Alaska. The shoreline was scattered with debris and drift wood due to the high tides at the Spring Equinox.

Back in 2008 when Kim had his sabbatical from Intel, we set off in the old Sunset Creek trailer for a 2 month road trip up Highway One in California. One of our most favorite stops was Morro Bay, so we were excited to revisit and make new memories.
After finally dragging ourselves away from the sea otters, we had sourdough bowls of steaming hot, fresh, local clam chowder then walked as far as we could around Morro Rock, a huge, 576 feet tall granite rock, one of seven aligned volcanic plugs in the area, that we reached via a long causeway. Beachcombing along Morro Strand was wild and windy. We ❤️ Morro Bay. 4 ever. Here are some pics from back in 2007 ❤️  The whale was not there in 2023 And here are the pics from 2023 ❤️ 
I wish that you could smell the blossoms in this post! The jasmine-like fragrance of row after row of citrus tree blossoms was intoxicating. We walked in the groves of lemons, oranges, limes, grapefruit and even some citrus hybrid surprises that filled the air with the sweet scent of Spring. Dainty flowers with round, delicate petals grasped the stringy boughs in shades of pastel pinks, Easter egg yellows and cool, crisp whites. Some had already lost their hold and lay on the ground like confetti at a wedding. We got lost on the Blossom Trail in Fresno and were amazed by the stretches of citrus orchards that stretched as far as the eye could see. The citrus fruit trees are the signature crop of this region and we were fortunate enough to be there just as they were blossoming. As you look at the pics, see if you can pick out the peach tree with peach pits at the base, all that was left after the fruit had fallen and the flesh eaten by birds, wildlife or left to decompose to enrich the soil for the next season.
